We would like to really upgrade the doors in our 1972 house. I am pretty handy but I have never hung new doors. Should we buy the doors and then find someone to install them or should we find an installer first?

My parents had to replace a couple of doors in our house and I went with dad to purchase them. If I remember right you have to buy a door that they call "pre hung" which means that the place for the hinges are already cut into them. All you have to do is to buy the correct width of door and you will be all set. I think?

If you have never hung a door before you might want to think twice about this. However, pre-hung doors have made things a lot easier for the averager diy'er. I found this on the web.

You should do like this: Ask a expert about the dimensions and type of the door you want to buy and then buy it.

In my views you should find the installer first and ask him what will be best option for your house and then buy new doors accordingly
